Meditation 8-Your Heart Knows the Way

by Denise Druce

“No matter how dark, the hand always knows the way to the mouth.”
~Idoma Proverb (Nigeria)

hand

This proverb reminds us that things are never quite as bad as they seem inside of the problem. When it is pitch black, we’re still able to put food into our mouths. We breathe even when we’re not thinking about it. We have an inner knowing that keeps us going. This aliveness continues to operate, even in the most difficult times of our lives. And on the stormiest of days, the sun is still there, just waiting to peek through the clouds.

Sometimes, we cannot do anything about the darkness. It’s just dark. At those times, it might be helpful to remember that even in darkness, our hands can find their way to our mouths.

And even in darkness, the light can find its way into our hearts.

Today, let’s hold in awareness the inner knowing, the aliveness in us that keeps going, no matter how dark life, or circumstances may seem.

Even in darkness, your heart knows the way.

Here is meditation of gratitude for a heart that knows the way. (And yes, that is my cat Iris purring in the background…enjoy as if she were sitting on your lap)
