“Within the rhythm of my breathing is the rhythm of all the breaths and all the heartbeats. Within the rhythm of my breathing lies the secret that I am every being and every being is me.” ~Rolf Gates
Can you hear it? Listen. It’s all around you. All the time. The pulse of life. Starting with your own breath, your own heartbeat. The breath of a person close to you. A dogs heartbeat. The sound of a plant growing. The sound of snow melting. The sound of buds on trees squeezed tight against winter cold. Every single living organism has a pulse, a vibration, a rhythm.
But we never hear it. Why? Because we’re so busy making our own noise and getting things done. We hear tones from our devices, horns honking, the buzz of our electronics, and we hear the incessant conversations in our head…but we never hear the beautiful rhythm that is stringing us all together.
Todays’ meditation asks us to pause, and tune in. Close your eyes, start with your breath, your heartbeat. Then listen…can you hear it?
The universal heartbeat. The unifying breath. OUR collective rhythm.
And now the practice of yoga begins…
Namaste.
