Effortless effort. Steady and sweet. The soft edge of the hard place. These are all ways used to describe how a yoga pose should feel. When we get into a pose, we ground ourselves, we feel the strength of the pose, and then we look for the softness and ease inside of that strength.
Coming to your meditation seat probably still feels like effort. Like another thing to do. It requires so much discipline to carve out the time to do nothing. Even though we know there is ease surrounding that effort. They go together.
In todays’ meditation, we’ll focus on Yoga Sutra 2.46 _Sthira Sukham Asanam_
This sutra is most commonly translated as, “posture (asana) should be stable (sthira) and comfortable (sukha),” but is more literally translated as “resolutely abide in a good space.”
Join me as we resolutely abide in a good space. A space where the soft edge and the hard place meet.
And now the practice of yoga begins…
Namaste.
